Hong Kong Secretary for Justice Paul Lam Ting-kwok is leading a delegation of about 30 members on a five-day visit to West Asia, which kicked off yesterday. The aim is to promote Hong Kong’s legal and dispute resolution services and to foster cooperation and exchanges, reports The Standard.
The delegation will visit Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, as well as Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the UAE. It includes representatives from the Law Society of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Bar Association, the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd, Invest Hong Kong, and other related sectors.
During the visit, Lam and the delegation will engage with local legal and business communities to better understand their needs for cross-jurisdictional legal services. They will also meet with relevant government officials to discuss and exchange views on various areas of legal cooperation.
Lam will address local legal and business sectors at a networking luncheon in Riyadh and a half-day forum followed by a networking luncheon in Dubai.
The visit is supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Dubai and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
The delegation will conclude their visit and return to Hong Kong next Thursday, 23 May.
