Dr Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, Chairman of the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (SDAIA), recently convened with Sangu Park, the South Korean Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, to discuss collaborative opportunities in artificial intelligence (AI) and smart cities.
According to the Saudi Gazette, during the high-level meeting, SDAIA showcased Saudi Arabia’s significant strides in smart city technology, underscoring its effective partnerships with various government agencies. These collaborations have led to five Saudi cities being ranked among the top in the IMD Smart City Index for 2024.
The discussions between Dr Al-Ghamdi and Minister Park highlighted the importance of extending smart city models internationally. Both parties expressed a shared vision for advancing smart city initiatives, with particular emphasis on leveraging AI to enhance urban living standards and infrastructure efficiency.
Minister Park presented various initiatives from the Korean Ministry of Land and Infrastructure that could bolster smart city projects in Saudi Arabia. The potential for knowledge exchange and technological integration between the two countries was a focal point, suggesting a promising landscape for future cooperation in these advanced technology sectors.
This meeting marks a step forward in the Kingdom’s ambitious Vision 2030, aiming to transform its cities through cutting-edge technology and innovation, while fostering international partnerships to achieve these goals.
