At the invitation of President Xi Jinping, four prominent Arab leaders will visit China from 28 May to 1 June. The state visits will be made by Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Tunisia’s President Kais Saied, and the UAE’s President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan. This announcement was made by Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying today, reports Xinhua.
The leaders will attend the opening ceremony of the 10th Ministerial Conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum (CASCF), a key platform for fostering Sino-Arab relations. The forum aims to strengthen cooperation in various fields, including trade, investment, and cultural exchange, reflecting the deepening ties between China and the Arab world.
China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has significantly influenced West Asia, promoting infrastructure development and economic collaboration.
The visits are expected to bolster diplomatic ties and explore new avenues for collaboration, particularly in energy, technology, and infrastructure projects. China’s engagement with West Asia and North Africa has grown in recent years, with several Arab nations becoming key partners in the BRI, enhancing regional connectivity and economic growth.
The CASCF serves as a vital mechanism for dialogue and cooperation, fostering mutual understanding and shared prosperity. This year’s conference is poised to address contemporary challenges and opportunities, paving the way for a more robust and comprehensive partnership between China and the Arab states.
